Spellborne – Beginner’s FAQ

New Players FAQ
General
How do I earn more shards?
You can earn 10 shards by linking your DC account and another 10 by linking your Twitter (X). Additionally, you get 10 shards each for inviting another person via your referral link. However, you only receive these rewards after they have linked their DC and Twitter accounts too. This is done to prevent bots.
Do I need to make an investment or buy something to play the game?
While owning an apartment might give you early access, it is not necessary. The game is free-to-play and does not require you to spend on anything. However, owning apartments, monsters and characters will provide you additional benefits.
How do I get different roles?
You can get the following roles based on the specified criteria:
- Settlers: Own an Apartment Token.
- Battlers: Own a monster Token.
The OG settler role was given out to people who own an apartment since the creation of the collection (No longer obtainable).
Why am I unable to login?
While there can be various reasons for this, try the following options:
- Check if your country is restricted from accessing the game.
- Check if you have the game open in multiple tabs: If yes, close all except one and refresh.
- If any of the above options don’t work, still try refreshing the page atleast twice and then try to login.
- Try a different browser, different device, or different internet connect.

How to catch monsters easy?
To catch monsters easily, follow these steps:
- Find a monster in bushes or lakes.
- Engage in battle with the monster.
- Reduce the monster’s HP to a low level (1-3 HP is ideal) without knocking it out completely.
- Use crystals to capture the monster. Prismatic Crystals have the highest capture chance (256x).
Some additional tips to make catching easier:
- Keep a low-level monster in your roster to deal small amounts of damage when weakening the target monster.
- Use the Toxicity move from Snetail to gradually lower the opponent’s HP.
- Apply status effects like burn or poison to slowly reduce the enemy monster’s HP.
- Remember that higher-level monsters are more difficult to catch, so be prepared with better crystals and strategies.
How to earn more visible potential points besides crafting food?
If you’re aiming for 500 potential points, slow leveling is the way to go. Spam “Bust” in areas with low-level wild spawns. This gives you more battles before leveling up, and more battles equals more potential points for your monsters.
What are status effects?
The table below provides a detailed description of all status effects in the game.
Name | Effect | Remain After Battle |
Burn | The monster loses 1/10 of its max HP per turn. Fire attacks do 1.2x more damage to burned monsters. If the burned monster is hit by a water attack its status disappears. Otherwise it remains until it’s cured. [Immune to Fire]. | ✅ |
Poison | The monster loses 1/64 of its max HP at the first turn of poison. At each turn the damage doubles (3/64 – 6/64 – 10/64 – 15/64 – …). Beyond that, the monster loses 32/64 <=> 1/2 of its maximum HP at each turn. It remains until it’s cured. [Immune to Poison]. | ✅ |
Paralysis | The monster’s speed is reduced by 50%. If the paralyzed monster suffers a contact attack, it can transmit its paralysis to the monster that attacked it. Electric attacks do 1.2x more damage to paralyzed monsters. Remains until it’s cured. [Immune to Electric]. | ✅ |
Freeze | The monster is unable to attack. Each turn it has a 50% chance of thawing. However, if it suffers a contact, fire or heavy attack, it is instantly thawed, but the damage of the attack suffered is increased by 50%. If the frozen monster tries to use a fire attack, it will be instantly thawed as well, but its attack will be halved in power. [Immune to Ice]. | ✅ |
Sleep | The monster is unable to use any offensive attacks, but it recovers 10% of its total HP and 5% of its total SP. It has 33% of waking up each turn. If it suffers an attack of power higher than 80, it will be instantly awakened but will take 50% more damage on this attack. Can’t remain more than 5 turns. | ✅ |
Fear | The monster has a 20% chance of missing its attacks (no matter how accurate they are). Its critical hit chance is divided by 2. It remains 3 turns. | ❌ |
Rage | The trainer can no longer use healing items on the monster or remove it from the field. He can only use offensive attacks, whose power is increased by 25%. The status disappears after 3 turns. | ❌ |
Doubt | The monster has 33% chance of attacking itself instead of its target. The damage inflicted corresponds to an attack of 50 BP, on the monster’s physique using its Def and Atk stats to calculate the damage. It remains 5 turns. | ❌ |
